The child’s focussed attention and imagination is harnessed, allowing them to engage and respond to the therapeutic suggestions given by me whilst in a very relaxed state with their conscious mind quietened.
When their conscious mind is quiet, I am able to talk directly to their subconscious – the storage centre for all our learned behaviours and habits – suggesting an alternative way.
The process of suggestions supports in training their brains, creating new pathways and then learning new skills. The suggestions are focussed on the specific needs and goals of the child, for example, visualising a future where they can fall asleep without a parent next to them.
The therapeutic process help’s the child’s brain to form and re-organise their brain pathways and connections in a way that is helpful for achieving their goal.
As the therapeutic relationship between the child and myself is built on collaboration, trust, respect and them feeling valued, they have control and the choice to adopt the suggestions and suggested approaches.
