Sand Play is a very common activity for children.
It’s a play material that is found in many households, nurseries and school. For some they love the feeling of the sand, for others they enjoy the fun of building and creating castles or simply drawing pictures in it.
It is a very fun activity, but alongside this fun and within the safety of a therapeutic session, this sensory play can open a gateway into the exploration of emotions and experiences.
It allows a child to tell their story without words, without having to explain anything… to simply explore and express themselves through the tactile power of sand play.
